The 2E Observation Unit at Indian River Hospital specifically cares for patients requiring further observation before being readmitted or returning home. As an RN in this unit, you will assist fellow caregivers and healthcare staff in creating a comfortable space for patients to recover and regain strength, gaining hands-on experience with a diverse patient population, and having opportunities for further education or professional development. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (must obtain within 90 days of hire if not held)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs
  • Educate patients and their families
