It's more than a career, it's a calling MO-SSM Health 7980 Clayton RD Worker Type: Regular Job Highlights: Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week Rotating holiday schedule Every third weekend required Remaining days are self-scheduled Monday–Friday (not guaranteed) Role: RN – Intake Coordinator (H) Location: MO – SSM Health, 7980 Clayton Rd Shift: Full-time, night shift Job Summary: Coordinates patient intake activities and resources. As an SSM Health nurse, I will demonstrate the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model. Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our patient populations. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

Responsibilities
- Evaluates severity of illness for all elective, direct and urgent admissions to determine appropriate level of patient care.
- Reviews physician orders for clinical appropriateness/completeness and proper admission status.
- Coordinates education and development of internal staff and external departments to ensure understanding of intake review and approval process.
- Conducts complex clinical review for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services requests for medical necessity.
- Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
