The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia’s is seeking a qualified individual to serve as our next Registered Nurse at our new Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) in Dublin, GA. This State-of-the-art new facility features 40 total patient beds, including 24 crisis stabilization beds and 16 temporary observation beds, offering both voluntary and involuntary patients access to safe, secure, and compassionate care. This facility will provide critical support and stabilization services for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises in a safe, structured environment where individuals can begin their journey towards healing and recovery.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Nursing
  • Active Georgia Registered Nursing License
  • Comfortability with conflict and skilled in conflict resolution
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office Products
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines accordingly

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Nursing
  • Previous experience working in a supervisory capacity

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document vital signs every 8 hours; promptly communicate abnormal findings to the provider and carry out any new orders received.
  • Complete daily nursing assessments, including physical assessments as indicated (e.g., auscultation of breath sounds, wound care, and evaluation of treatment response, such as for UTIs). Perform and document CIWA and COWS assessments as appropriate.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings as needed.
  • Monitor individuals on the unit to ensure safety, security, and engagement in therapeutic activities, including group sessions and mealtimes. Support individuals with special dietary needs and communicate concerns regarding unhealthy eating habits to the medical provider.
  • Facilitate medical health education groups.
  • Assist with de-escalation and redirect individuals to quiet or sensory rooms when appropriate.
  • Conduct initial nursing assessments within 2 hours of admission. Ensure all required legal forms are completed, signed, and properly routed.
  • Perform 24-hour chart audits to ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation.
  • Forward appropriate documentation to the medical provider for review, validation, and final signatures within required accreditation timeframes.
  • Review all records to ensure accurate documentation of ongoing issues and appropriate follow-up. Ensure documentation reflects individualized care, including interventions and patient responses.
  • Assist with pat-down searches as required per facility policy.
  • Support medication administration, monitor for adverse reactions, and assist with laboratory specimen collection as needed.
  • Complete the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) prior to discharge if not completed by a counselor.
  • Complete a Safety Plan prior to discharge if a licensed clinician is unavailable to do so.
  • Provide nurse-to-nurse shift reports and communicate relevant updates to medical providers.
  • Maintain and update the CSP board accurately.
  • Contribute necessary information to ensure shift reports remain current and comprehensive.
  • Meet with individuals at the time of discharge to review diagnosis, follow-up care, medications, and address any questions. Ensure the individual has and reviews the discharge summary, safety plan, and crisis treatment plan at the time of discharge.
