Join our highly engaged Surgical Acute team as a Surgical Acute nurse working at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista. You’ll join a team of skilled medical professionals who provide superior health services in a caring environment. The Scripps Health team is dedicated to making a positive, measurable difference in the health of individuals in the communities we serve. Our surgical acute nurses gain exposure to general surgical patients including bariatric, ortho, spinal, urology, medical, telemetry, and trauma. This is a high-functioning unit that boasts exceptionally high employee engagement and patients satisfaction scores. The RN Clinical Mentor functions primarily as an RN with additional duties. Takes responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods. Works collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care. Takes responsibility for education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and it's relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members. Functions as a clinical expert, role model, mentor and resource in a designated practice area. Works collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of that area to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as a service, outcome and care oriented environment for the patients.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience required
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Current California RN license
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification
• ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification within first 3 months of employment required

Nice To Haves

• Prefer 1 year experience with chemotherapy administration
