About The Position

The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position. Perioperative Registered Nurses/Circulators are clinically competent, registered, professional nurses who have demonstrated expertise in the perioperative field. They effectively deliver perioperative care to the surgical patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Supervised by the Surgical Services Unit Charge Nurses and the Director of Surgical Services

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing
  • Must possess a current license as a registered nurse in the state of Alabama
  • Must have current BCLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • Recommended ACLS and PALS certification

  • Administers medications, blood and blood products according to policy and procedure in collaboration with anesthesia
  • Administers treatments, ensuring proper positioning, prepping, and safety of patient before, during, and after procedure.
  • Ensures sterile technique is mantained at all times, communicating with team and surgeons for patient safety.
  • Performs patient care, scrub or circulating duties as assigned. Adhering to ARON standards and recommendations.
