MedSTAR Transport's state-of-the-art Communications Center handles every patient need with just one call. Regardless of the situation, it expedites the referral, locates an admitting physician, and coordinates the transport to an appropriate facility. Its facility incorporates Global Positioning System (GPS) flight tracking, a real-time video link to MedStar Washington Hospital Center's helipad, eight workstations, four radio frequencies, and nearly 30 phone lines. The communications center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with paramedics and communications specialists. General Summary of Position The Assistant Vice President Clinical Operations is responsible for oversight of the professional practice of all MedSTAR Transport associates including Registered Nurses Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians. Oversees and directs the Professional Development Specialist(s) to ensure associates maintain clinical competence through ongoing education skills validation and quality assurance monitoring. Responsible for compliance and oversight of the department's clinical practice processes and workflows to ensure high quality safe patient care. Assumes overall program responsibility in the absence of the Program Director.
