About The Position

Volunteer Assisting patients and staff in the Mammography Clinic at Riverton Hospital Due to the sensitive nature of this service, this volunteer position is available for Women Only. We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, dedicated, and committed to providing exceptional customer service to patients and contributing to the extraordinary patient care experience. This is an unpaid position that gives volunteers the opportunity to use their talents, meet new people and experience the reward that comes from making a difference in people’s lives. Volunteers will assist patients in guiding them to dressing rooms, providing patients with the proper attire, assisting with lockers, visiting with patients in waiting areas and keeping waiting rooms and dressing areas tidy and assisting staff as needed. Volunteers may choose a 2 or 3-hour shift, one day per week between 7a.m. to 5p.m. Positions currently available include: Mondays: 3-5p.m. Tuesdays: 7-9a.m or 9a.m.- Noon Wednesdays: 9a.m.- Noon Thursdays: 9a.m.- Noon Fridays 1-3p.m. or 3-5p.m.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sensitive to patient and family situations / dynamics
  • Able to speak, read and understand English
  • Able to work alone and independently (within scope of assigned duties)
  • Work with diverse populations
  • Ability to recognize boundaries and limitations of duties and not act independently of those functions
  • Six-month (80-hour minimum commitment)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. (those under 18 will not be considered)
  • Able to work alone and independently
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Physical mobility (walking, bending, standing)
  • Adequate hearing and vision
  • Sensitive to patient and family situations
  • Passing a background check, have to a TB test, must be fully immunized and have an annual flu vaccine
  • Qualified volunteers will receive an e-mail inviting them to a Volunteer Introduction/Orientation Meeting. Attending this meeting is mandatory toward becoming a volunteer
