About The Position

Unpaid volunteer contributing time to Intermountain Healthcare in various roles. We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, dedicated, and committed to providing exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. Volunteers are an integral part of our Orem Community Hospital family, providing consistent and valuable support in a variety of departments throughout the hospital and contributing to the extraordinary patient care experience. This is an unpaid position that gives you the opportunity to use your talents, meet new people and experience the reward that comes from making a difference in people’s lives. Because we are a small hospital, all volunteers are given the opportunity to be trained in several areas of the hospital including the Main Entrance Desk, Emergency Department, Gift Shop, Women's Center, Imaging, and Lab. Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to speak, read and understand English
  • Able to work alone and independently (within scope of assigned duties)

  • Ability to recognize boundaries and limitations of duties and not act independently of those functions
  • Six-month commitment with a minimum of a 4-hour shift each week
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Able to work alone and independently

  • Physical mobility (walking, bending, standing)
  • Adequate hearing and vision

  • Passing a background check and drug screening

  • Clinical Skills Assessment and Department Training Verification (training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Main Entrance Desk - Engaging with individuals entering the hospital, assisting with check-in and wayfinding and escorting to appointments
  • Emergency Department - Assisting patients/staff in the Emergency Room meeting their needs
  • Gift Shop - Assisting customers with their purchases, pricing items and using the cash register
  • Women’s Center - Assisting visitors presenting to Women’s Center and assembling “new mom” packets
  • Other Departments – Other Department Volunteer opportunities as needed
