About The Position

This position is responsible for managing meaningful, engaging and person centered activities for people being supported in the community. Assures development and adherence to activity schedules and supporting community volunteer site supervisors and DSPs. Will consult with the Director of Volunteer Services on organization of events, community outings, volunteer opportunities, schedules, staff supervision, and disciplinary action. Works closely with community volunteer site supervisors and provides support coverage as needed. The coordinator will maintain staffing plans and assure community compliance with licensing authorities, oversee time sheet approval, assure quality and accuracy of daily notes, monthly reviews, up to date health passports, Go Files, SIS assessments, risk assessments, incident reports, behavior tracking data, attendance at scheduled health appointments during service hours, etc. Must be able to fill in for all department positions as needed and be flexible to work outside of standard working hours if required. Foremost, this position must demonstrate positive leadership abilities in all situations and must uphold the policies and procedures of Orange Grove Center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in supporting people with IDD preferred.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience in management and program development preferred.
  • Must possess the understanding of the importance of individuals with disabilities being active in a variety of community settings.
  • Excellent people’s skills and problem solving techniques are required.
  • Must have great computer and organizational skills.
  • Health must allow for efficient accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Physical examination, TB skin test and drug screen are required.
  • Maintain Valid driver’s license (with F-Endorsement if from Tennessee) and current auto insurance
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able and willing to meet the demands of a flexible schedule when needed.
  • Capability to work within the guidelines of the Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) and CHOICES.
  • Initiative to work on tasks independently
  • Excellent organizational/ administrative skills

Responsibilities

  • Assure community volunteer services team members are motivated and accountable to provide excellent prompt service to people supported and other departments within OGC, as well as licensing authorities.
  • Communicate openly and effectively with individuals, staff, and other partners and funders.
  • Assure community volunteer site supervisors adhere to daily activity schedules, and high quality community outings are carried out for the benefit of people supported.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting daily attendance, staffing load and assist the director in adhering to program budgets.
  • Work with the Community Volunteer Site Supervisors to develop and distribute monthly activity calendars.
  • Ensure monthly activity calendars are developed with each person and sent home with each person at least two weeks prior to the upcoming month.
  • Assure adequate supplies are available for needs of people being supported in Community Volunteer Sites.
  • Perform unannounced visits in community settings for quality assurance purposes including individual involvement, safety, and satisfaction with services.
  • Serve as mealtime card trainer
  • Assist with monitoring daily notes for accurate documentation of required services.
  • Work with administrators, families, employees, and community partners to support the interests of the people we support.
  • Attend all assigned trainings and staff meetings as necessary
  • Adhere to all regulations and policies of all regulatory bodies
  • Perform additional assigned duties as needed to achieve program success.
  • A flexible schedule is required to attend meetings, to facilitate relationships with community partners, to manage staff needs, and to ensure successful service quality and delivery.
