About the job: Our area The Global Risk Management (GRM) unit has a clear strategy to aid in bank´s growth and risk-adjusted profitability and recurrent value creation, using a model portfolio approach to manage the group's activity as a basis for better capital and better risk management framework. You will join the GRM CIB USA team, with a focus on ensuring robust risk project execution to enable and support transformation across CIB in the United States. Associated with Credit Risk , you will also work intensively in ensuring the best possible use of a scarce resource to facilitate business growth: Capital and will contribute to the adequate local regulator management . What you will do Reporting to the US Head of Risk Projects, Capital Efficiency & Data and working closely with global and local stakeholders, you will assume hands-on responsibility for advancing GRM's strategic agenda in the US.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, economy, business administration, actual science or equivalent background.
  • 7+ years of combined Risk experience in defining and implementing complex projects, exposure to regulation including inspections, and financial planning & monitoring.
  • Valuable previous recent work experience in the US.
  • Valuable solid knowledge of BBVA global risk processes applied in geographies different to the US where the group operates. This is needed to apply them consistently in BBVA USA in compliance with BBVA group policies, also facilitating the achievement of synergies.
  • Strong experience in project management with multi-disciplinary teams, including Agile mindset, coordination with end users, Engineering teams, internal and external stakeholders.
  • International experience and interpersonal skills in a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Strong track record in complex multi-national organizations.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility in the planning, development & implementation of GRM projects, process transformation and strategies in the US.
  • Contribute to defining deployment plans of the global Strategy in the US, identifying needs in IT projects, risk process transformation, resources and budget.
  • Manage Risk Projects portfolio and transform our project capabilities to: Ensure that the process and technology deployed will satisfy the supervisor expectations and will support the bank in avoiding Non Compliance scenarios Optimize processes, boosting globality, automation and integration, researching and evaluating best practices and methodologies that can be implemented successfully Support related business plans and initiatives to the Risk Portfolio and models affected, leading pilots to test and learn new data, new techniques, etc. for existing or new segments of clients/portfolios.
  • Build local budget and ensure financial control of execution during the year.
  • Coordinate Risk participation in local Federal Reserve inspections to BBVA USA. Review consistency of information provided by different risk participants in the inspections. Monitor status of risk remediation action plans agreed with the FED.
  • Continuous capital efficiency initiatives.
  • Analyze credit risk capital impact of new local business related to the growth plans in the region, considering both the local regulation in the US and the consolidated BBVA SA regulation in Europe.

  • Support to the Credit Risk Officer (CRO) in presentations to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Lead, motivate and inspire our team, ensuring professional challenges that match their expectations, creating long term engagement and commitment.
  • Fluently communicate and coordinate with local risk, business and support areas, and other risk, business and support units within CIB and Holding as part of the BBVA global strategy.
