About The Position

Risk Manager - Data Strategy and Modernization The MiDaS Project Management Office team is looking for a talented and eager Risk Manager to join our Data Strategy and Modernization team. This team is a part of the Divisional Data Officer (DDO) team within the Enterprise Risk Organization (ERO). The MiDaS Team is composed of risk managers and data stewards who collaborate with ERO business units and their data partners to ensure the adherence to Capital One Data Management policies and initiatives. In this exciting role, you will work closely with key stakeholders to deliver results that will have a direct impact on the bottom line of the company. This role will be responsible for building relationships across lines of business, as well as downstream partner teams in ERO. You will also be responsible for developing, monitoring and reporting on project delivery in partnership with our Product and Tech partners in ERO, and in collaboration with our Enterprise and ERO stakeholders. A successful candidate will be able to: Drive program management office execution based on defined priorities; strategically plan in a collaborative setting, monitor and manage critical path, decisions, risks, plan contingencies, facilitate scope changes, identify gaps, and build mitigation plans to achieve desired outcomes Be well-managed in everything we do; creating and adhering to governance standards, clearly defining & documenting processes and decisions, executing controls, and having an audit-ready mindset Demonstrate an ownership mindset; incorporating enterprise-level perspectives, structuring conceptual problems, dealing with ambiguity, focusing on the areas of highest leverage, and influencing strategic decisions across senior leadership Drive solutions to complex problems; partnering with stakeholders to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership, applying sound business judgment that recognizes trade offs between competing priorities, and influencing solution delivery

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 3 years of financial services risk management experience
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or MBA
  • 7+ years of Project Management experience
  • 4+ years of experience supporting, partnering or interacting with internal business clients
  • 4+ years of Risk Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Leading moderate to large complex projects and programs by providing strategic direction to projects and peers
  • Designing, developing, and managing project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
  • Ensuring projects are being documented appropriately to mitigate risk and to be delivered on time.
  • Leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent
  • Partnering cross-functionally with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
  • Building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment.
  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes
