About The Position

Provides assistance to the Director of Safety & Risk & Risk Manager with the County’s self-funded insurance programs, safety compliance, and general administration duties.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and two (2) to five (5) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are preferred.
  • Proficient with computers, MS Office 365, and subscription-based software.
  • Obtain certification in First Aid, CPR and AED within three (3) months of hire is required at County’s cost and on paid time.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with monitoring and management of workers’ compensation, auto physical damage, and liability claims, including, but not limited to opening and closing files, generating and calculating wage statements, requesting records and reports, establish diaries, coordinating medical care of injured employees, medical bill review processing and billing disputes, process claim payments, and send new claim and payment documentation to third party administrator.
  • Assists with all safety programs and safety training compliance.
  • Assists with auto, property, liability, and workers’ compensation excess coverage renewals.
  • Receives and directs callers/visitors.
  • Assists benefits manager as needed with day-to-day and benefits open enrollment duties.
  • Assists people in need of First Aid, CPR, and AED and secures incident reports; schedules CPR/AED classes and verifies AED equipment maintenance with appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with the payment of monthly bills incurred under the Tort and Liability Fund and maintains a log of these expenditures.
  • Assists with maintaining vehicle listings for all departments.
  • Purchases office, PPE, ergonomics, and first-aid supplies.
  • Assists with distribution of ergonomic, first aid, and PPE supplies to departments including conducting ergonomic evaluations.
  • Assists with annual fire extinguisher inspections/replacements in buildings and vehicles.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal identifying, HIPAA, and legal information related to the operation of the department.
  • Prepares annual OSHA reporting forms and distributes.
  • Assists with certificates of insurance.
  • Assists with the preparation of various reports.
  • Assists with the coordination of annual approval for disposal of documents through the State Local Records Commission.
  • Process and distribute incoming mail, file documents
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
