About The Position

The Risk and Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting and advancing risk management, quality improvement, and accreditation activities within the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment. This role is critical in ensuring the organization meets regulatory, safety, and quality standards while promoting an enterprise-wide risk management culture. The Risk and Quality Specialist will work collaboratively across departments to implement quality improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide training and education to staff on best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in quality assurance, risk management, or healthcare compliance, preferably in an FQHC or ambulatory care setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Support regulatory and accreditation activities including HRSA Operational Site Visits, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards, and state/federal audits.
  • Prepare for audits and site visits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards and maintaining up-to-date documentation and evidence .
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and evidence required for successful accreditation and regulatory reviews.
  • Administer the organization’s risk management framework, conduct clinical risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, and track incidents.
  • Monitor incident reporting systems, review trends, and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of organizational internal controls to reduce risks and improve operations.
  • Promote an enterprise risk management approach, collaborating with all departments to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Support the safety program, including drills, environment of care rounds, OSHA compliance, and emergency preparedness, maintaining accurate safety logs and updating emergency operations plans as needed.
  • Prepare materials and documentation for the Safety Committee, Quality Committee, internal audits, and senior leadership reporting. Provide staff education on topics such as risk management, quality improvement processes (e.g., PDSA cycles, root cause analysis), incident reporting, safety and documentation standards.
  • Develop tools and resources to support risk management and quality improvement across departments.
  • Support organization-wide quality improvement (QI) initiatives by identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities to enhance patient outcomes, care team efficiency, and documentation accuracy.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to implement workflows that improve care gap closure, documentation, and alignment with value-based care priorities.
  • Provide training for providers, medical assistants, and clinical leadership on performance metrics, dashboards, and population health tools to support patient care and outcomes. Serve as a certified BLS instructor and provide Basic Life Support (BLS) training to ANHC staff as needed.
  • Represents ANHC as needed at community meetings and stakeholder events
  • Maintains professional growth and development through continuing education, participation in professional associations and other activities to stay abreast of current trends and practices.
