About The Position

The Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety and technical training programs for all amusement park staff. This role ensures that all employees are well-trained in safety protocols, operational procedures, and emergency response, contributing to a safe and enjoyable experience for guests.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year technical degree OR minimum 7+ years’ experience in a technical field. Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory and training experience including responsibility for interviewing, training, safety, scheduling, discipline, and performance management for a staff of at least four subordinates.
  • Minimum 5 years of Amusement Rides experience
  • Effective reading, writing, mathematical and communication skills.
  • Proficient use of computer programs and CMMS utilizing work processing and database software (Mobaro preferred).
  • Specific knowledge of principles and practices of rides, facility, and equipment maintenance.
  • General knowledge in the following disciplines: hydraulics, welding, machining, plumbing, carpentry, electronics, and PLCs.
  • Excellent skills in both verbal and written communications.
  • Proficiency in organizational, interpersonal, project management, computer and training skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall safety of staff, guests, and attractions.
  • Establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, federal regulations and American Dream standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical training programs for the Rides Maintenance team and other Parks staff based on Manufacturer requirements and industry best practices and incorporate into CMMS program (Mobaro).
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, certifications, and other related training completions, to include: Mobaro Technician Competency Certification Protocols, and be able to provide comprehensive documentation to Administration upon request.
  • Ensure all new hires undergo technical and safety training modules in accordance with their development and experience level, to include: Dayforce Learning Portal initiatives
  • Develop safety audit and inspection programs to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards and maintain subsequent records, to include: Dailly PPM and Reactive Maintenance Spot Check program, Weekly Chem Room Audit, North and South Pump Room audits.
  • Maintain and foster positive relations with governing bodies (DCA, Bergen Health, NJSEA, etc.)
  • Lead regular training sessions and workshops on safety, emergency response, and technical operations.
  • Investigate safety incidents and accidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations for prevention.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure cohesive safety practices and training across the park.
  • Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare staff for various scenarios.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and continuously improve training programs and safety protocols.
  • Track annual ride rebuild schedules, ensuring all manufacturers and state requirements are met.
  • Monitor and maintain Technical Staff Safety certifications through ASTM recognized national organizations (NAARSO, AIMS, etc.).
  • In conference with Sr. Rides Maintenance Managers: schedule, supervise, observe, and direct Senior Maintenance PPM (Annual, NDT, etc.) or other Manufacturer mandated maintenance of rides or equipment to ensure safe and timely completion and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g. NJDCA).
  • Successfully, efficiently, and professionally create and maintain working relationships with contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure that all attractions, facilities, and work environments are safe for our guests and employees through the above practices.
  • Accurately complete and update documents and company records, to include hardcopy and digital records.
  • Assist with the purchasing function as needed.
