About The Position

As a Revenue Specialist (FT3), you will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of the agency's operations. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of fiscal tasks that require accuracy, analytical thinking, and a strong understanding of accounting principles and state financial regulations. This position serves as a point of contact for fiscal inquiries, offering professional and courteous support to OIC staff and external customers. You will be responsible for processing and reviewing financial documents, verifying compliance with applicable policies and procedures, and resolving discrepancies through detailed research and communication. The ideal candidate will have: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. A solid understanding of accounting principles and fiscal procedures. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of full-time relevant professional experience performing clerical or fiscal supporting duties.
  • A degree in accounting, finance or related field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, or a foreign equivalent may be substituted for relevant experience. Proof of degree may be required prior to employment. If a degree was awarded outside of the United States, candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.
  • AND
  • 15 quarter or 10 semester hours of college level accounting, auditing, finance, or budgeting.
  • Basic level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in AFRS.
  • Experience working in the Treasury Management System (TMS).

Responsibilities

  • Use independent judgement to identify incoming payments and endorse, validate and enter all receipts into the in-house revenue system.
  • Prepare daily Cash Receipts Journals (CJ's) and bank deposit.
  • Research deposit adjustments made by the bank and adjust the in-house revenue system and AFRS as necessary.
  • Monitor daily in-process reports, exercising independent judgement to identify errors or action items requiring further research and determining appropriate resolution.
  • Track, follow-up, and resolve NSFs, ACH rejections, and past due payments for consent orders, taxes, surcharges and health care benefit manager registration and renewal fees, process unclaimed property.
  • Maintain billing request log, set up consent order billings in ORCA, and create/send invoices to entities/individuals. Adjust health care benefit manager and captive insurer registration and renewal fee billings.
  • Prepare, verify, batch, and enter payments, refunds, encumbrances/liquidations, corrections, and other fiscal-related documents into AFRS while reviewing for accuracy. Distribute backup documentation as requested/required. Process unredeemed warrants (SOLs) and conduct subsequent follow up. Complete annual reporting to Dept. of Revenue for unclaimed property.
  • Serve as the primary contact for payment questions for the Filing and Payment Center including researching and resolving credit card charge-backs and disputed charges.
  • Sort Operations mail. Open, date stamp and distribute fiscal mail.
  • Verify vendor payments with the warrant register documentation to assure correct coding and amount.
  • Mail out warrants to vendors and other entities.
