About The Position

Overview: This position will work alongside a Retail Planner and assist with researching current trends, space planning, designing and procuring retail fixtures, reviewing construction drawings, and analyzing proposed budgets for current retail and office projects. Additional work with construction specification writing and developing punch lists will also be included. This position will work closely with the Scheels Store Development Office to bring conceptual projects to reality.

  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in obtaining a degree in Construction Management, Retail Merchandising, Interior Design, Architecture or a related field.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Roles are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury

Responsibilities

  • Learn a variety of tasks related to the Store Development Retail Planner position such as:
  • Review proposed architectural drawings and make recommendations for improvement prior to their release
  • Work as a team alongside hired contractors, architects and engineers to develop design documents for retail and office projects.
  • Evaluate construction progress and write punch list and site observation reports.
  • Write and issue purchase orders for needed materials and fixtures.
  • Execute project work plans to complete the task on time with appropriate revisions to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Strong initiative and vision for continuous improvement
  • Detail oriented, organized, ability to multi-task and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Strong oral/written communication and computer skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Competent in AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
