About The Position

Lead a Team of Consumer Loan Reps and Mortgage Loan Originators! Seeking 4+ years' experience ensuring the application and origination activities associated with consumer loans and consumer real estate products, including first mortgages and HELOCs, are performed with excellence! The Retail Lending Sales Manager is responsible for the guidance, leadership, oversight, and operational aspects of consumer loans and consumer real estate products, including first mortgages and HELOCs. This role is responsible for ensuring that all application and origination activities are timely, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements and internal credit union policies

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related field. Two years of additional specific work experience in lieu of degree
  • 4 years of specific work experience in a lending role, with a minimum of two having been in a supervisory capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of lending regulations, risk management, and industry best practices
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines such as calculator, computer, printer, facsimile, telephone, copier, etc. Must be able to stand, bend and stoop as needed. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 5 to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Consumer Lending Representatives and Mortgage Loan Originators fostering a culture of excellence, outstanding member service, and continuous improvement.
  • Put measures in place to monitor the origination and follow up activities of the Consumer Lending Representatives and Mortgage Loan Originators, including the quality of their interactions with members and internal business partners.
  • Maintain a standard of excellence for the presentation of ancillary products and services, ensuring that proper consultative conversations are taking place with members, proper disclosures are presented to members, and members are fully aware and voluntarily decide whether pro or con, regarding their purchase of products and services.
  • Exercises personnel authority, including hiring and interviewing, completion of performance appraisals, and establishing business and learning objectives for each individual supervised.
  • Ensures satisfactory and timely resolution of member complaints, inquiries, disputes, and problems; Sets a standard for prompt action on the part of all supervised parties having impact on the member service experience.
  • Oversee the presentation and sale of Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) by licensed Consumer Lending Representatives and Mortgage Loan Originators.
  • Collaborates with the VP of Consumer Lending to align sales strategies with company goals, objectives, and member service standards and to identify opportunities for improvement in processes, procedures, software, and applications.
  • Maintains awareness of competitive trends, market trends, and rate trends that impact consumer lending activities.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of the products and services offered by the credit union.
  • Accepts responsibility for keeping staff informed of operational, transactional, or procedural changes and the timely implementation of said changes into the operational processes and procedures for the department.
  • Works with a sense of urgency and advocates for swift resolutions to internal and external inquiries or complaints.
  • Effectively uses written and oral communication skills in daily correspondence and completion of tasks.
  • Maintains credibility and positive working relationships across all levels of employees, managers, and executives within the organization
  • Adhere to the provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Military Lending Act (MLA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Housing Act (FHA), the Universal Code (UCC), Regulation Z, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA),RESPA, and any other state or federal regulation associated with the granting of credit that are applicable to this position.
  • Comply with all aspects of BSA/AML, OFAC, and Basel III regulations as they relate to this position.
  • Attend ongoing training as needed to maintain a prominent level of knowledge related to the position.
  • Occasional travel up to 10%; Occasional night or weekend work hours.
