About The Position

The Retail Events and Social Media Specialist is responsible for executing retail events and managing social media content that strengthens community engagement and drives traffic to Gardener’s Supply Company’s garden centers. This role brings the retail brand to life through experiences, storytelling, and local engagement that connect customers with the mission and expertise of Gardener’s Supply. Working under the direction of the Retail Marketing Manager, the Specialist plans and executes a calendar of events, develops engaging social media content, and collaborates with store teams to highlight seasonal moments, educational programming, and community partnerships. This role plays an important part in creating memorable customer experiences that deepen brand loyalty and strengthen the connection between each garden center and its local community. Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in event planning, social media management, or retail marketing.
  • Strong visual storytelling ability with an eye for photography, video, and content creation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple events and content schedules simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and content creation tools such as Meta Business Suite, Instagram, Canva, or similar tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with store teams and cross-functional partners.
  • Frequent travel between garden center locations required.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and peak seasonal periods based on event schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community-driven retail, experiential marketing, or multi-location environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute a calendar of retail events across all garden center locations, including workshops, demonstrations, community events, and seasonal programming.
  • Coordinate logistics for events including scheduling, vendor participation, staffing coordination, and event setup.
  • Partner with store leadership teams to ensure events reflect the unique community and seasonal needs of each location.
  • Maintain consistent standards for event experience, branding, and customer engagement across all stores.
  • Develop and manage social media content for retail garden center platforms to promote events, highlight store experiences, and increase brand engagement.
  • Create engaging content including photos, video, and storytelling that reflects the seasonal and regional identity of each location.
  • Monitor social media engagement and respond to customer interactions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track trends and opportunities in social media to support continued growth in audience engagement.
  • Build relationships with local organizations, and community partners to support sponsorships, donations and event programming and brand collaboration opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to increase the visibility of garden center locations within their local communities.
  • Partner with store teams to capture authentic content that highlights expertise, seasonal product offerings, and customer experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Creative and Retail Marketing teams to ensure event promotion and social content align with broader marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor participation, engagement, and customer response to events and social media initiatives.
  • Provide performance insights and recommendations to support future planning and improved engagement.
