About The Position

The Retail Dining Food Service Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the University of North Texas' mission by delivering a high-quality campus dining experience. This role is responsible for overseeing food quality, customer service, and the daily operations of assigned areas within Retail Dining or Catering. Retail Operations may include national brand concepts, in-house formats, and signature designs. The position ensures customer satisfaction and retention, supports UNT Dining's mission and values, and upholds national brand standards. Key responsibilities include driving operational efficiency, supporting revenue growth, and securing all products, equipment, and assets during closing procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in related field and two years of experience in food service management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Seeking a candidate with extensive knowledge of large-scale food preparation, food service management, sanitation standards, and food safety practices.
  • Must be skilled in advanced food preparation techniques, proper service etiquette, and the safe use of kitchen equipment.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience training, supervising, and evaluating staff, a strong commitment to compliance with documented service and production standards, and the ability to recognize when to seek assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in retail food service management
  • Experience managing branded concepts (e.g., Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Burger King).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees food quality and presentation to ensure alignment with established standards and the expectations of the campus community in the assigned retail dining location. Develop and implement strategies to enhance service quality and refine food offerings based on supervisory feedback.
  • Provide comprehensive training by equipping staff with the skills needed for exceptional service and food safety. Creates a collaborative and supportive team culture that encourages open communication and employee engagement.
  • Adheres to all University policies, health codes, and safety standards, regularly reviewing practices to ensure adherence.
