About The Position

Lord Abbett seeks a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to join its Taxable Fixed Income group as a Restructuring Analyst to focus on stressed, distressed, and in and out of court restructurings across all asset classes. This individual will be part of the Leveraged Credit Team and will interact with investment professionals across the entire Taxable Fixed Income organization. The role provides an opportunity to directly impact the management of fixed-income portfolios in a highly flat and dynamic organization, and we are looking for an individual who can grow into a leadership role as we continue to build out our distressed and restructuring capabilities.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of credit analysis with stressed/distressed experience, preferably on the buy side, sellside distressed desk or restructuring investment banking.
  • Prior experience should include participating in the execution of restructuring transactions.
  • High motivation to learn, grow, and develop as an investor in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent quantitative, communication, and investment management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and collaborate with multiple constituencies with divergent objectives.
  • Ability to articulate investment objectives in a clear and concise manner with internal and external constituents.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills with a proficiency in scenario based financial modeling.
  • BA/BS degree required

Nice To Haves

  • MBA degree, CFA designation viewed positively but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with portfolio management, research, trading, and legal to help oversee stressed, distressed and restructuring situations to maximize outcomes.
  • Support the execution of in and out of court restructuring, liability management exercises, and workout situations.
  • Build out in-depth credit, financial scenario, recovery, and capital structure analyses.
  • Build and maintain relationships with financial advisors, external legal counsel, and other market participants.
  • Assist credit research analyst team with stressed and distressed analysis.
  • Track and communicate deal related, industry trends and internal reporting to the broader team, department and key firm stakeholders.
  • Identify new opportunistic credit and new money opportunities.
  • Actively monitor positions and industry dynamics.
  • Maintain and improve repeatable framework and processes around stressed and distressed investments.
