About The Position

A Restorative Aide in a skilled nursing facility assists residents in maintaining or regaining their functional abilities, mobility, and independence through various restorative nursing programs. They work under the supervision of nurses and therapists, implementing individualized care plans to improve residents' strength, endurance, and overall well-being.

Requirements

  • Licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in the State position held.
  • Minimum of one year of CNA experience and preferred Restorative Aide work experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with residents and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and maintain a well-organized work area.
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Must maintain and have an active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Helping residents with range of motion, strengthening exercises, and mobility activities prescribed by therapists.
  • Observing and recording residents' progress, reporting any changes to the healthcare team, and documenting care on restorative flow sheets.
  • Offering routine restorative care services, such as positioning, transfers, and assisting with daily activities, as outlined in the care plan.
  • Explaining the recovery process, providing information about home exercises, and supporting residents and their families throughout their journey.
  • Preparing and cleaning therapy equipment, ensuring the safety of treatment areas, and maintaining adequate restorative supplies.
  • Supporting residents in performing daily tasks, encouraging participation in activities, and fostering a sense of independence.
  • Offering encouragement, positive reinforcement, and emotional support to residents to actively participate in restorative programs.
  • Working effectively with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans and address residents' needs.
