About The Position

Residential Treatment Assistants (RTA) are primarily responsible for the care and supervision of youth residents in all facets (including physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being) of their daily lives. Residential Treatment Assistants are also responsible for implementing assigned treatment services, maintaining accurate documentation of services, and ensuring that the daily routine of the facility is upheld.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High School graduate or General Educational Development (GED) test.
  • Must obtain CPR and Basic Life Saving Techniques.
  • Must pass CYFD/FBI fingerprint clearance check to maintain employment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass and maintain a Driving Record clearance in accordance with GCLC policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) both verbal and written is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily supervision of residents and being always aware of their whereabouts.
  • Responsible for assisting in assuring that all client needs are directly met.
  • Primary responsibility for coverage of the home on a rotating 24-hour basis.
  • Provide transportation of residents to scheduled activities and as directed by Director of Clinical Services or the Operations Supervisor for Residential Services.
  • Participate in and oversee meal preparation, performance of daily chores and other routine chores the residents are required to perform, which could require long periods of standing.
  • Responsible for documentation of any significant incident (positive or negative) in the resident’s file prior to change in shift. Obtain emergency assistance as needed.
  • Daily maintenance to ensure records are complete and accurate, incident reports, daily staff logs/vehicle logs and reading assigned logs daily.
  • Answering and logging all telephone calls in a professional manner.
  • Ensure that bedroom checks, self-harm checks, drug tests, etc. are completed per program procedures.
  • Responsible for the implementation of a disciplinary concept based on the theory of natural and logical consequences (no corporal punishment is allowed) as directed by the Director of Clinical Services or the Operations Supervisor for Residential Services.
  • Must have the ability to assess and utilize community resources.  The personal characteristics and temperament suited to working with, caring for, and earning the respect of children and/or adolescents.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client identities, records, and information.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Humphrey House Program Manager and Director of Clinical Services.
