About The Position

About the Role We are currently recruiting for Residential Youth Support Workers to join our residential care team in Bunbury region . These are hands-on Permanent Part Time and Casual positions, with most time spent in the house or participating in recreational activities. You will be working directly with children and young people; the positions are based in a 24/7 Residential Setting with fortnightly rotating shift rosters. The program prioritises the safety and well-being of children and young people, offering a predictable, home-like environment that is culturally safe and responsive.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification level - Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, or relevant qualification
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
  • Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
  • Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
  • A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) Certificate
  • A current Drivers Licence
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Additionally, experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), positive behaviour support, trauma and attachment, Sanctuary or CARE residential models will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

  • Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
  • Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
  • Support the young person’s interests
  • Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
  • Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
  • Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking, housework, laundry
  • Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
  • Medication administration (when required)
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping
