About The Position

Bridgehaven Women’s Alcohol and Other Drugs Residential Program is an 18-bed service supporting women (and their accompanying children) experiencing alcohol and other drug misuse. Using a trauma-informed approach, the program helps women build emotional awareness, strengthen healthy relationships, and move toward greater independence and sustainable living. The service also provides specialised support for pregnant women and children, ensuring care is safe, reflective, and empowering. As an AOD Support Worker, this is your opportunity to provide supervision, support, and crisis intervention to women and children at Bridge haven to help maintain the functioning of the centre during and outside of business hours. Reporting to the Support Work Coordinator, we have multiple casual positions available based in Preston, VIC. You must be available to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekdays, weekends, afternoon shifts and sleepover shifts.

Requirements

  • Certificate IV (or equivalent) in the application of AOD interventions or the commitment to gain the qualification within the first 12months of employment
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • A valid Employee VIC Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Current VIC Drivers Licence

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical and emotional support and facilitation of program engagement to the Residential Rehabilitation participants
  • Develop effective relationships and offering relevant intervention including psycho-social educational groups
  • Organise a range of appropriate enjoyable social activities to ensure participants remain actively engaged
  • Work as part of a team along with case managers and other support workers to achieve the best outcomes for the participants
  • Manage participant’s behaviour in line with the program policies
  • Provide practical, hands-on support with tasks such as cleaning and maintaining participant's bedrooms and bathrooms, meal planning and cooking, personal hygiene, and other day-to-day activities.
