About the role We are expanding our services into Carnarvon and looking to take on a number of Residential Support Workers in our new residential care house. Supported by a local Program Manager and working alongside our Senior Residential Care Workers, you will support up to 5 young people with daily living tasks and support them to achieve their goals. Prior experience working with children and young people or relevant community services experience required. These newly created positions will be based in our Carnarvon house. Requirements

• Experience working with clients who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
• Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
• Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
• Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
• A current Provide First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain prior to employment)
• A current Drivers Licence
• Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
• Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
• Support the young person’s interests
• Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
• Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
• Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking, housework, laundry
• Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
• Medication administration (when required)
• Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping
