About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated candidate with prior experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or Research Assistant (RA) to join us as a Residential Student Supervisor. In this role, you will act as the primary bridge between the academic program and the student experience. You will be responsible for the day-to-day well-being, safeguarding, and logistical supervision of our cohort. While this is a residential supervision role, we specifically seek candidates with an academic research background who have experience interacting with students and can provide support as they navigate high-level research for the first time.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or Master’s program in Sciences/STEM (F-1 and J-1 holders not eligible)
  • Location: Anywhere in the US, New York residents preferred
  • Prior experience as a Research Assistant (RA) or Teaching Assistant (TA).
  • Demonstrated experience working with high school/undergraduate students
  • Must be available to live on-site for the full duration of the program i.e 5th-17th July and 19th July - 1st August including weekends.
  • Must pass a mandatory background check for working with minors.
  • Willingness to complete mandatory training (including CPR, Youth Mental Health, and Safeguarding) prior to the program start.
  • Strong judgment and ability to handle sensitive situations/emergencies.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Residential Supervision: Reside on-site (hotel) to ensure student safety, including conducting night rounds to monitor noise and ensuring all students are in their rooms by the curfew.
  • Well-being Monitoring: Monitor student health and well-being, reporting any concerns (such as students skipping meals or signs of illness) to the Program Lead immediately.
  • Emergency Response: Act as the first point of contact during nights and weekends; be prepared to handle emergencies, including accompanying students to clinics/hospitals if necessary.
  • Lab Commute: Supervise the daily internal commute, accompanying students from the hotel to the laboratory facilities and back, ensuring the group stays together and arrives on time.
  • Attendance: Take roll calls at the start of every session/transport movement. Immediately investigate and report any unauthorized absences.
  • Meal Supervision: Support the Program Lead in arranging meals for the students, engaging with them socially and ensuring they are eating regularly.
  • Communications: Manage a WhatsApp group for your assigned student cohort to disseminate schedule changes/announcements and facilitate quick communication.
  • Weekend Leadership: Take primary responsibility for leading and supervising weekend excursions and cultural trips.
  • Social Activities: Plan and run a variety of social activities on designated evenings to foster team building and relaxation.
  • Move-In/Move-Out: Assist with student arrivals, check-ins, and departures, ensuring students are settled into their rooms and have necessary contact information.
