About The Position

Evolve Treatment Centers offers residential and outpatient treatment programs for teens aged 12 to 17 struggling with mental health, substance abuse, or behavior issues. They provide a unique experience focused on positivity, equipping teens for change, and holistic growth in a comfortable, home-like setting across their California-based centers. Evolve is dedicated to clinical excellence and fostering a community aligned in purpose to support healing families. The company is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Residential Counselor for one of its 6-bed teen residential treatment centers. This role involves supervising up to six adolescents in residential treatment for 30-60 days for mental health and substance abuse issues. Residential Counselors support daily activities and facilitate groups, making a significant impact on teens and their families. It's an ideal position for individuals interested in pursuing a degree in mental health or social services. The ideal candidate is experienced, dedicated, flexible, patient, resilient, reliable, a team player, and capable of maintaining appropriate boundaries. As a critical health worker, the role may involve exposure to COVID, with Evolve adhering to all state and local PPE requirements and strict safety guidelines.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Must be at least 21 years old
All schedules require working at least 1 weekend shift

Nice To Haves

Experience working with teens preferred
Experience working in a behavioral healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one support and supervision to clients struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues
Establish positive and nurturing relationships with the clients, within professional boundaries, in accordance with the policies and procedures
Maintain vigilance and awareness of the milieu while monitoring the behavior, activities, and safety of the clients
Engage in activities with the clients, such as, hikes, equine therapy, surf therapy, and fitness groups
Create a constructive therapeutic community in accordance with the Center’s polices
Conduct and facilitate psycho-education groups and recreational activities
Perform crisis management and interventions as necessary
Demonstrate model behaviors
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all shift activities
Oversee and participate in meal-times and assist clients with life skills (i.e. laundry, dishes, and making bed)
