About The Position

Evolve Treatment Centers provides residential and outpatient treatment programs for adolescents aged 12 to 17 struggling with mental health, substance abuse, or behavior issues. In this role, the Overnight Residential Counselor is responsible for the safety and supervision of clients at one of Evolve's 6-bed residential treatment centers. Overnight counselors must remain awake throughout the night to ensure client safety. The position also involves light chores to maintain facility cleanliness and inventory checks. The ideal candidate is dedicated, patient, and a reliable team player. This position offers training, competitive pay, and opportunities for growth. As a critical health worker, the counselor may be exposed to COVID or work with COVID-positive clients, with Evolve adhering to all state and local PPE requirements and strict guidelines for a safe work environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be able to stay awake all night
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have at least 6-9 months of experience working with teens with mental health or substance abuse
• Have 6-9 months of experience in an adolescent group home or similar setting
• All schedules require at least 1 weekend shift
• Must be able to pass a LiveScan background check and clear federal and state criminal background checks, and child abuse indexes
• Possess a valid California driver’s license
• Must be willing to interact with COVID-positive clients, as needed

Nice To Haves

• College coursework or bachelor’s degree preferred
• Previous overnight shift experience preferred
• Previous work or volunteer experience with teens or working in a group home (teens or adults)

Responsibilities

• Be awake, alert, and active for the entire duration of the night shift (10pm-6am)
• Ensure clients are in bed all night and be able to provide line of sight of clients at all times
• Check on the clients every 15 minutes
• Walk through the facility and do a maintenance check
• Assist with inventory check and notify the facility manager of anything that need attention
• Document all shift activity in KIPU
• Help maintain the cleanliness of the facility
• Attend and participate in monthly Treatment Team Meetings
