About The Position

Legacy Behavioral Health is seeking a Residential Care Specialist to join their team in Valdosta, Ga. This role, under the direct supervision of the Residential Site Manager, involves providing services to consumers with a Mental Health (MH), Substance Abuse (SA), or Dual Diagnosis in a 24/7 community-based residential program. Key responsibilities include skills training and education on daily living activities such as budgeting, household chores, personal hygiene, social skills, and meal preparation. The specialist will also provide case management services, including linking consumers to community resources, assisting with transportation, and observing medication intake as prescribed. Monitoring and documenting consumer progress in treatment using designated formats and within established time frames is crucial. The position requires computer knowledge and extensive documentation. Incumbents must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid GA driver’s license with less than 5 points
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR Certification
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to perform extensive documentation
  • Physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations
  • Ability to work extended periods of time at computer terminals
  • Ability to experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric and /or deceased patients
  • Regularly required to talk and hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions (may be corrected with glasses or contact lenses)
  • Intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching

Responsibilities

  • Provide services to consumers with a MH, SA, or Dual Diagnosis in a 24/7 community based residential program
