About The Position

Enables the people we support to lead a self-directed, independent life and to contribute to his/her community by providing formal instruction, guidance, and support, as well as by endorsing the development of attitudes and behaviors that enhance quality of life and inclusion into the community. Contributes to effective Individual Service Plans (ISP’s) and Plans of Protective Oversight (POPO’s) by actively participating in their development, documentation, and implementation. Meet Agency and regulatory standards for cleanliness and safety by inspecting the apartment regularly, instructing and/or assisting the people we support in housekeeping skills, and performing essential tasks when person is unable or chooses not to. Ensures safe living conditions for the people we support by performing routine household safety assessments and monthly apartment checklists, identifying concerns, and working cooperatively with program manager and the people we support to establish plans of corrective action. Ensures the people we support have 24/7 access to Agency support by participating in a system of oversight and on-call coverage during off-hours.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License that meets agency standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours, available and responsive to “on call" demands
  • Ability to transport the people we serve in Agency van or personal vehicle
  • Ability to demonstrate solid judgment and initiative; identify fluctuations in the needs of the people we serve
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing, telephone, 1-on-1, or in groups
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks efficiently
  • Ability to obtain and maintain medication administration certification and CPI certification

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • Any teaching or training experience
