About The Position

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that ‎‎‎‎‎‎an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage ‎‎‎‎‎‎in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed ‎‎‎‎‎‎Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a ‎‎‎‎means to a significant educational ‎‎end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the ‎‎‎‎development of good learning ‎‎conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is ‎‎‎‎possible, provide for individual ‎‎differences, abilities, and interests. ‎ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The typical responsibilities for this opportunity include the following: Teach course content in person. When supervising local (Central VA) student teachers, visits and formal observations must be in person on site in the local school systems. Plan and implement instruction that is effective for student engagement, understanding, and retention Effective use of software, university, and classroom resources to promote active learning experiences Weekly communication with the students Adhere to LU’s communication policy (respond to student’s email within 36 hours) Maintain the course LMS content and assignment updates as needed (and aligned with Course lead and Department Chair guidance and approval) Demonstrate activity and engagement in the course LMS and adhere to LU’s grading policy (within 5 days) Maintain communication with the Faculty Support Coordinator, the Department Chair, and the Associate Dean Reflect on teaching effectiveness by reviewing course evaluations and completing portfolio requirements And other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current state teaching license
  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience in the K-12 school setting
  • Full doctrinal compatibility with Liberty University
  • Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Superior interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills required.
  • Creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Canvas, and the Internet.
  • Able to obtain and maintain licenses if applicable as required by state or accrediting commissions.
  • Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the college level is essential.
