About The Position

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that ‎‎‎‎‎‎an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage ‎‎‎‎‎‎in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed ‎‎‎‎‎‎Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a ‎‎‎‎means to a significant educational ‎‎end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the ‎‎‎‎development of good learning ‎‎conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is ‎‎‎‎possible, provide for individual ‎‎differences, abilities, and interests. ‎ Teach Residential English courses in the Department of English. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching. Teaching assignments include general education courses in English and Writing. The position requires a love of teaching, the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats, knowledge of pedagogical best practices, the ability to use current teaching technology (LMS, e-textbooks, etc.), and a commitment to the evangelical standards and mission of Liberty University.

Requirements

• MA in English, or 18 graduate hours in discipline

• PHD in English
• MFA in Creative Writing
• Credentials to teach TESOL

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the English Department
• Reports to English Dept. Chair
• Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner
• Strong organizational skills
• Advanced computer skills
• Record attendance and grades in Canvas
• Classroom management and allocation of teaching resources
• Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner
• Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission
