About The Position

The Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) is responsible for assessing resident needs, identifying community resources, and developing supportive services to enhance the quality of life for residents living in HUD-assisted housing. The RSC works to promote housing stability, self-sufficiency, and resident well-being while ensuring compliance with HUD program requirements and fair housing laws.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with HUD Multifamily housing programs, Section 8, and service coordinator funding guidelines.
  • Understanding of community resources, public benefits, and supportive housing models.
  • Strong understanding of Fair Housing laws and confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and resident management systems (Yardi, RealPage, etc.).
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field required (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years in case management, social services, or resident coordination in affordable or HUD housing.
  • Flexibility to travel to different locations as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Ability to work inside and outside in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between residents, property management, and community agencies.
  • Assess resident needs through interviews, surveys, and case notes to determine appropriate support services.
  • Assist residents in accessing benefits such as SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and energy assistance.
  • Provide crisis intervention and referrals for issues such as mental health, domestic violence, food insecurity, and substance use.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries.
  • Develop and coordinate on-site programs that promote health, education, employment readiness, and community engagement.
  • Partner with local organizations to bring services on-site (e.g., health screenings, transportation assistance, financial literacy workshops).
  • Facilitate resident meetings, community-building events, and resource fairs.
  • Maintain accurate resident case files in accordance with HUD guidelines and company policy.
  • Track and report program outcomes to HUD, ownership, and management as required.
  • Ensure compliance with HUD’s Service Coordinator Program Handbook, including reporting in the HUD Multifamily Housing Service Coordinator Program Annual Report (HUD Form 92456).
  • Protect resident privacy in compliance with HUD, HIPAA, and Fair Housing regulations.
  • Work closely with property management to identify residents at risk of eviction and develop intervention strategies.
  • Attend staff meetings and collaborate with the management team to support community stability.
  • Build relationships with community agencies, service providers, and government organizations.
