This role focuses on providing pharmacy related services in a hospital or retail setting. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Pharmacy Services duties: Delivers pharmaceuticals. Includes professionals who are trained and sometimes licensed to dispense medicine/controlled substances. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. An entry level role that applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. May require the following proficiency: work is closely supervised, problems faced are not typically difficult or complex, and explains facts, policies and practices related to job area. This one-year post-graduate training program accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education to develop clinical pharmacists who are responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. Residents are prepared as pharmacists for a clinical practice that integrates direct patient care, drug distribution, teaching and management. The residency program’s purpose is achieved by utilizing the four competency areas and their associated educational goals and objectives as required by the ASHP Standard. The competency areas are: (1) patient care; (2) advancing practice and improving patient care; (3) leadership and management; and (4) teaching, education, and dissemination of knowledge
