As a member of Residential Life, the Resident Director is a full-time, live-in staff member responsible for providing daily support to students living in student housing and upholding the educational priorities of the department to maintain a safe and educational living environment. This role involves supervising student leaders, offering crisis support, and ensuring the program remains operational. The Resident Director reports directly to the Associate Director of Residential Life and contributes to the educational and programmatic goals of Residential Life through staff development and student leadership advising. The position demands a high level of student interaction, the ability to manage stressful situations, and critical thinking to address incidents. The Resident Director must be capable of supporting students in crisis, demonstrating sensitivity and understanding of diversity and equity issues pertinent to student housing. Key responsibilities include ensuring efficient student housing operations with a focus on student safety and well-being, administering university and housing policies fairly, disseminating safety information to residents, and fostering student learning and development.
