Turning Point, Inc empowers survivors of domestic and sexual violence and Human Trafficking through comprehensive services and resources while advocating for community action to end oppression and violence. We offer emergency shelter, housing, trauma advocacy services, forensic nurse examiner program & first advocacy services, 24-hour hotline, personal protection order and legal advocacy services, and community outreach. Upon completion of training, the Resident Advocate provides support, safety planning, and resources to shelter residents, including those who are limited-English speaking or hearing impaired. The Resident Advocate must be a critical and analytical thinker, work well with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, communicate and write effectively, be highly organized, flexible, able to troubleshoot, and must be resourceful. The Resident Advocates will execute job duties, and responsibilities from an intersectional, and anti-oppression framework while upholding the values, and the mission of Turning Point. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field. Having at least 1-3 years of experience in the field of social services, sexual assault crisis counseling, and or hotline/intervention experience and proven experience with trauma-informed direct services is a plus. The candidate must demonstrate cultural competency in working with diverse populations.
