About The Position

The Resident Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the property’s resident experience. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to residents and assisting with marketing, resident retention, and administrative functions. The Resident Assistant serves as the property’s student representative, helping to create a positive community atmosphere and maintain high occupancy. Their responsibilities include: Listening to any concerns or issues students may have and communicating these to leadership or administration. Preparing for and participating in students’ first week on property, including creating activities to engage students, checking them into the apartment, and familiarizing the students with the property’s amenities. Helping students stay informed about properties and activities to encourage student engagement to create an exceptional student experience. Addressing any concerns students may have with other residents and acting as a moderator to solve any problems while staying in compliance with fair housing laws. Staying up to date with the community guidelines to ensure students are always following them. Participate in scheduling and planning monthly resident activities. Post to social media platforms a minimum of 3 times a week to increase engagement with residents. Participating in prepping for move-ins and move-outs in August, longer hours are expected. Support the Leasing Manager/Property Manager in achieving occupancy and revenue goals. Participate in community outreach, resident referral programs, and social media initiatives. Provide excellent customer service to current residents, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly. Help coordinate resident retention activities and community events. Support the renewal process by promoting lease renewals and assisting with retention initiatives. Maintain accurate records of leasing traffic, applications, move-ins, and renewals. Ensure that the leasing office, model units, and common areas are clean, organized, and presentable always. Collaborating with maintenance teams to address property upkeep and repairs. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree desired.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a leasing, sales, or customer service setting, with student housing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and leasing best practices is desired.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at the desk. (50% office work)
  • Must be able to operate and tolerate long hours performing work on a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, as necessary.
  • Must be able to tolerate climbing stairs, walking, and occasional bending, stooping, or kneeling.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s insurance policy.
