About The Position

The Reservation Specialist is responsible for Coordinated Entry referrals, reservations, intake scheduling, and bed inventory for the Emergency Shelter Program. Key duties include conducting phone interviews, coordinating with shelter navigators, and generating reports. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, effective communication, and the ability to work with diverse populations in a crisis-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Strong computer and data processing skills
  • A valid CA driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a reliable vehicle is required
  • Comfortable utilizing your own vehicle to conduct home visits, visit clients at shelters, and meet clients out in the community
  • Ensure a client-focused, trauma-informed, and housing-focused shelter approach
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; plan, organize, and prioritize duties; perform crisis intervention as needed; clearly communicate information and instructions verbally and in written form; maintain a positive, professional, and safe environment while on duty; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Possess a high level of tolerance and understanding for individuals who present for services with urgent multiple case management and health needs
  • Dependability, responsibility, and the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Fluency in Spanish is of significant value

Responsibilities

  • Manage Coordinated Entry Referrals process for all Ventura County shelter programs
  • Work with referral partners to locate applicants, verify eligibility, and conduct initial assessments
  • Conduct phone interviews to complete diversion questionnaires and provide applicants with a program overview
  • Coordinate with shelter navigators to schedule intake appointments and ensure a smooth move-in process
  • Manage bed inventory
  • Manage Coordinated Entry module and make referrals and enter data when necessary
  • Generate daily reports
  • Participate in networking functions
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Attend training workshops as needed
  • Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional and technical knowledge gained by attending seminars and conferences and reviewing professional publications
  • Perform ad hoc projects as appointed by Supervisor
