The Singhvi Lab (Basic Sciences Division, Fred Hutch) is looking for a Research Technician II to join a diverse, innovative, and collaborative research team. The Singhvi Lab aims to understand molecular mechanisms by which glia, which are about half the cells in the nervous system, impact sensory perception, neuron shape and physiology, neural circuit activity, and animal behavior. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework

Nice To Haves

  • PhD strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience in wet-lab skills
  • Experience in manuscript preparation strongly preferred
  • Experience in elegans, especially functional imaging and animal behavior assays, preferred.
  • Experience in molecular biology and CRISPRI/Cas9 transgenesis strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments at the bench level to lead investigative work.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines.
  • Perform and modify documented protocols and assays.
  • Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays.
  • Interpret and report on experimental results.
  • Lead manuscript preparation.
  • Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed.
  • Supervise junior trainees.
  • Perform other duties as required.
