Requirements

  • Work generally requires skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other science related scientific field program.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior laboratory research experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Detail-oriented.
  • Motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, or computational biology (not required; training will be provided).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical duties related to laboratory research projects under the direction of Dr. San Roman and laboratory staff.
  • Perform experiments using human cell culture and approaches in molecular genetics, biochemistry, genomics, epigenetics, and computational biology.
  • Collect, document, organize, and analyze experimental data in conjunction with Dr. San Roman and laboratory staff.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Support laboratory management, organization, and inventory.
  • Serve as the Lab Safety Manager to ensure compliance with Duke Environment, Health and Safety Policies.
  • Assist with training new lab members as needed.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive laboratory environment.
