We are seeking a Research Project Coordinator. The Scaling Lab is dedicated to discovering the mechanisms driving the development and maintenance of high blood pressure, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia that occurs with increased fatness and decreased fitness (the cardiometabolic syndrome) and their end-organ effects including heart disease, kidney disease, and brain disease such as Alzheimer's. To accomplish these goals, the lab is utilizing evolutionary biology, comparative physiology, mathematical modeling, and large cohort studies such as ARIC, CARDIA, and MESA. The lab consists of the PI, Dr. Young and four faculty, four scientists in training, and eight students. The work is funded through the philanthropic generosity of the PI's patients and others. This position will support the work through review and abstraction of the literature which requires significant analysis, compilation and critique. Will provide support for the mathematical modeling effort and develop expertise in the physiologic systems under study and in various analytic and modeling methods. It is expected that this project will be the anchoring research for years to come.
