The Slate Plant Ecology Lab at Ohio State University is hiring a full-time Research Project Coordinator to manage laboratory-based research projects designed to improve the success of seed-based restoration strategies. The research requires fine attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to oversee and coordinate multiple projects and research lab staff, ability to anticipate and solve most lab issues with little supervision, preparation of graphs and advanced data analyses, and ability to lead report and/or publication writing efforts. The Research Project Coordinator will lead lab, field and greenhouse research projects and train new and existing research lab staff. The Research Project Coordinator should be an expert at growing plants across a range of experimental settings. Lab and greenhouse work will involve microscopy, taking physiological measurements (e.g., photosynthetic capacity, water use efficiency), taking morphological measurements (e.g., root and leaf scanning), coordinating seed dormancy treatments, and computer work (e.g., data sheet preparation and oversee data entry). Field work will require installation of experimental infrastructure and advanced plant identification skills of native plants at the seedling level.
