About The Position

The Adult and Child Center for Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) has an opening for a full-time Research Program Manager. This position will work closely with ACCORDS leadership, the Center Director, faculty, and administrative teams to support the operational, administrative, and research activities of the Center. This role will work closely with the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine Outcomes Research Center. In this full-time role, responsibilities include ensuring that all research projects and Center activities adhere to established timelines, comply fully with regulatory standards, maintain high standards of academic rigor and integrity, and remain within allocated budget limits. The Research Program Manager will work directly with the Center Director and faculty to carry out high-level administrative duties, allocate and supervise research staff, and support faculty and trainee investigators in obtaining and maintaining grant funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social/behavioral sciences, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • 4-6 years of professional experience
  • An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD or terminal degree in social/behavioral sciences, public health, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Ten (10) years of qualitative and/or mixed methods research experience.
  • Five (5) years of health services research experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor staff, including hiring, orientation, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time by team members and partner organizations.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Facilitate clear channels of communication between staff, faculty, and trainees throughout the Center.
  • Oversee resolution and/or mediation of personnel issues/conflicts.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and troubleshoot Center events (i.e., onboarding, learning opportunities, presentations, etc.), logistics, and execution.
  • Act as an important liaison between faculty, trainees, staff, external stakeholders, and Center leadership.
  • Closely develop, document, and monitor detailed project schedules, timeline, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Delegate tasks as necessary and appropriate.
  • Oversee day-to-day research operations, ensuring smooth progress and adherence to project timelines.
  • Involvement in all stages of research on Center projects, including study design, planning, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of results.
  • Independently acquire a thorough understanding of study materials, including protocols, informed consent forms, and other essential documents for Center studies.
  • Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to research protocols.
  • Manage all necessary documentation for research activities, including IRB applications, recruitment, consent forms, and data management (e.g., building and auditing REDCap databases for accuracy).
  • Lead and participate in project start up and close out functions.
  • Work with Center Director to anticipate staffing needs and assign work.
  • Oversee Center resources and order supplies as needed.
  • Oversee pre- and post-award grants management.
  • Act as subject matter expert in qualitative and mixed methods research for the Center; serve as a mentor to faculty, trainees, and early career investigators in their pursuit of research activities, funding, and scholarly output.
  • Lead and supervise rigorous team-based qualitative/mixed methods data collection and analysis efforts, including training staff in various methodologies (e.g., survey development, interviewing, ethnography, focus groups).
  • Lead development and summarizing of qualitative/mixed methods study findings.
  • Implementation of the Center’s administrative, operational, and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to support research and development initiatives.
  • Work with Center Director to develop and manage the Center budget, including cost control and resource allocation.
  • Identify and implement new processes and methodologies to improve Center efficiency.
  • Assist the Center Director in developing and maintaining educational and/or training programs.
  • Support and identify professional development activities for investigators and staff.
  • Oversee development and submission of regulatory materials.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements, including NIH, VA, IRB, University of Colorado and other relevant standards.
  • Participate in resolving regulatory issues and reporting adverse events.
  • Educate and train Center affiliates and staff on matters of federal and university research compliance.
  • Maintain regulatory binders in case of audits.
  • Engage with academic departments, healthcare organizations, and community partners to maintain and enhance relationships and strengthen the academic profile of the Center.
  • Liaise with a variety of stakeholders including, but not limited to, Center/project sponsors, regulatory agents, and clinic/hospital staff.
  • Work with Center Director to develop and communicate goals and outcomes with a variety of stakeholders, such as quality metrics (e.g., grants and awards obtained, publications) and financial performance.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, institutional representatives, patients, research participants, and other stakeholders regarding Center activities and services.
