About The Position

As a Research Intern, you will contribute to developing and testing innovative approaches for the preservation of living systems. You will be responsible for maintaining and handling a variety of cell-based models, applying preservation techniques, and evaluating their recovery and quality after storage. This position provides hands-on laboratory experience at the interface of cell biology and bioprocessing. On-site Internship in Marlborough, MA. This hands-on position provides a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge methods at the interface of cell biology and bioprocessing. You will contribute to cell culture, biopreservation, and post-preservation analytics while working closely with an interdisciplinary research team. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to technologies with relevance in biopharmaceutical and cell therapy applications.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed a B.S. or M.S. in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Developmental Biology, or a related life sciences field
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with cell culture and assay development in an academic or industry setting.
  • Familiarity with standard cell viability or characterization techniques.
  • With the ability to select and apply appropriate assays for viability, proliferation, and functional quality.
  • Ability to systematically design and execute experiments, document results, and communicate findings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to experimental reproducibility.
  • Collaborative and proactive mindset with curiosity for innovative research.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and culture cell-based systems under defined laboratory protocols
  • Apply and evaluate preservation methods across different model systems
  • Independently design and perform recovery and functional quality assays post-preservation, assessing cell quality and function
  • Record, analyze, and communicate experimental findings in a clear and organized manner
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to support ongoing research projects
