About The Position

The Campbell Clinic Foundation Research Fellow plays a vital role in advancing orthopaedic medicine and patient care, both locally and globally. Embracing a culture of collaboration and innovation, this individual will work closely with research collaborators, both internal and external, to drive research of the highest scientific rigor aimed at improving clinical care. The Research Fellow functions in a key role to oversee and execute research studies. The Research Fellow works directly with physicians, residents, research staff and external study partners to facilitate studies, inform the practice of orthopaedic medicine and produce materials for publication and education. Duration: 1-year, full-time position. Requirements

  • 3rd year or 4th year medical students and/or medical school graduates interested in conducting clinical research in the field of orthopaedic surgery are all encouraged to apply for the position. Completion of all pre-medical coursework required. Degree in biology, chemistry, engineering and/ or sciences preferred.
  • Previous research experience required.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with RedCap, IRB submission, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point and data management systems strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and contributes to research studies from design inception to project completion
  • Manages data collection, tracking and analysis on research projects
  • Coordinates communication and progress with the entire study team
  • Completes literature searches and reviews to ensure a solid foundation of study design
  • Writes, edits and leads the synthesis of abstracts, manuscripts and presentation materials for submission to peer-reviewed publications and professional society meetings
  • Takes initiative to improve and innovate research studies
  • Applies Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and principles of Human Subject Protection during study conduct in compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals
  • Presents updates and data to research teams in meetings and symposia as needed
  • Completes OSHA, HIPAA, Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) and other relevant trainings and certifications as needed
  • Successfully meets deadlines, works independently, and is proactive in solving problems
  • Works in a collaborative manner with others
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Fluent in oral and written English and speaks in a manner easily understood by the patient population
  • Performs other duties as assigned
