About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Research Engineer I to support Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) and its collaborating institutions in the conduct of biomedical engineering functions. NAMRU-SA’s mission is to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of DoD personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. The Research Engineer I will provide support in professional biomedical engineering functions involving medical research practices. The role involves setting up laboratory equipment, conducting experiments, and compiling data to ensure research activities meet specifications and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field plus five (5) years’ related experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus demonstrable experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to support biomedical engineering functions and conduct complex experiments.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating laboratory equipment in accordance with research protocols.
  • Strong analytical skills for compiling and analyzing data using scientific or statistical techniques.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for publication and presentation materials.
  • Ability to maintain data and records securely, including the use of an assigned laboratory notebook.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: None

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in professional biomedical engineering functions involving medical research practices to support the laboratory’s efforts.
  • Support the Government in directing the integration, fabrication, and functional testing of systems after installation to ensure that performance meets specifications and customer requirements.
  • Set up, operate, and calibrate laboratory equipment in accordance with research protocols.
  • Research and collect data through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques, and procedures.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a clean and operational lab space.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies for research.
  • Compile and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques.
  • Assist with writing and editing material for publication and presentation.
  • Report on the status of research activities.
  • Route administrative paperwork related to scientific products.
  • Maintain data and records securely, including the use of an assigned laboratory notebook.
