Quanex is looking for a Research & Development Co-op to join our team located in Cambridge, OH . Requirements

  • Senior actively pursuing a 4-yr scientific degree relevant to polymer science, chemistry, chemical engineering, macromolecular science, or similar from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficient in basic laboratory experimental methods.
  • Familiar with basic experimental design, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the formulation of new products for existing businesses or for new opportunities.
  • Assist with participation in a formal product process.
  • Conducts assigned research projects with supervision from experienced staff members.
  • Research literature, patents, and survey expertise in-house for technical solutions and options.
  • Collect and summarize data and write summary reports.
  • Ability to present detailed results of work in an organized manner to teams and internal groups.
  • Ability to scale-up formulations to pilot plant or plant with assistance from supervision.
  • Properly collect, package, and clearly label raw materials, production, components, and other representative samples to be tested or retained.
  • Correctly label secondary containers and finished goods.
  • Properly operate and maintain test equipment.
  • Conduct job functions in a safe manner consistent with the safety standards.
  • Follow all procedures and policies.
  • Communicate with all co-workers, leads, manager in an effective/timely manner.
  • Maintain and uphold the work area in compliance with lean standards.
  • Promote a team environment through open and honest communication.
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues as needed.
