About The Position

The Research Associate reports to Jie Li, Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy, to investigate the rare cancer pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), establish animal models for PMP, and metabolically engineer natural products as potential PMP therapeutics.

Requirements

  • Educational and training background in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharmacy, with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  • At least five years’ postdoctoral research experience with the rare cancer pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), including PMP cell culture and functional assays as well as isolating bacteria from PMP tumor tissues.
  • At least five years’ postdoctoral research experience with microbial genome mining, genetic manipulation, metabolic engineering, and natural products bioassays.
  • Proficiency in analyzing microbial genomic and metabolomic data.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct scientific research and report in the form of original research publications in leading scientific journals.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • In addition to Required Qualifications, prior experience in bioinformatics and cheminformatics as well as strong verbal and writing communication skills for working in research teams are preferred qualifications.
