About The Position

The UF CaRE2 Health Equity Center, an NIH/National Cancer Institute funded Center at the University of Florida, is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator will join a team of program directors, board members, investigators, staff, trainees, community leaders and other stakeholders across three institutions to address cancer health disparities in Black and Latino populations at risk for cancer health disparities. The successful candidate will be well organized and an efficient communicator who can ensure that Center’s Community Outreach Core (COC) can meet its specific aims. The individual will also be responsible for developing and delivering progress reports and presentations for project milestones under the supervision of the COC director. The individual will perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the position, including operations, and administrative tasks. This position is based in Orlando and requires significant travels, especially to/in Duval and Alachua Counties. Guided by the NIH/National Cancer Institute materials, the RC is expected to engage and educate ethnically diverse populations across the cancer care continuum, including cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and advocacy. S/he will also work closely with core and project leaders to disseminate the results of cancer research and training efforts within the Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in minority health research and working with populations at risk for cancer health disparities is required.
  • Has reliable transportation to travel within Florida.
  • Displays strong written and verbal communication skills and community health education (CHE) credentials or training
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and grasp biomedical and research terminologies.
  • Experience in disseminating information in scientific and public gatherings.
  • Capability to train in all aspects required to effectively perform the duties associated with this position, including human subjects' protection.

Responsibilities

  • Providing oversight, developing, coordinating and implementing community outreach and education programs for the UF CaRE2 Center.
  • Conducting community outreach activities in Orange, Duval and Alachua Counties.
  • Providing administrative support for the UF CaRE2 Center Community Outreach Core, including the coordination of Core Meetings.
  • Tracking UF CaRE2 Center Community Outreach Core accomplishments and developing Core progress, annual and final reports.
  • Overall support of additional UF CaRE2 Center activities.
