This position will support Dr. Taylor in his research program as the lead in development of algorithms and software for biomechanical plaque modeling, integrating frameworks and tools on exascale computer systems, writing and co-writing research articles and open-source documentation, and advising postdoctoral fellows and graduate students on implementation. This candidate will also support Dr. Taylor’s activities for the Center for Computational Medicine by providing support for software collaborations or use of external software.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational Engineering or related field
  • Expertise in developing patient-specific, cardiovascular biomechanical models
  • Experience developing finite element or isogeometric simulation libraries, including validation, testing, and maintaining comprehensive documentation and user-friendly interfaces
  • Experience in software integration of advanced numerical solvers and imaging and simulation tools
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Experience in biomechanical modeling of coronary lesions
  • Experience with medical image processing for computational modeling

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining libraries for biomechanical vascular and plaque models
  • Integrating software packages and heterogeneous data input sources on exascale computing systems
  • Writing software documentation, peer-reviewed conference papers and journal articles
  • Providing mentorship regarding software integration, verification, validation, and software quality engineering practices
  • Providing grant and project planning support with code development feasibility and software integration planning
